Adobe AIR Apps You Will Love
Maybe you have hear all the buzz about Adobe AIR. In case you haven’t, Adobe AIR is a cross-platform runtime environment for building rich Internet applications using Adobe Flash, Adobe Flex, HTML, or Ajax, that can be deployed as a desktop application (so called Browserless). AIR applications can operate offline, and then activate further functionality or upload data when an active Internet connection becomes available. Yes, it may have weaknesses, but hey, nobody is perfect and its still look attractive. We present you some of AIR’s apps you should see.

PHOTOS, MUSICS & VIDEOS
- AOL Top 100 Music Video gives you the top 100 most watched music videos. You can also bookmark them and watch them later.
- RichFLV is an application that used to edit FLV files.
- Finetune lets you discover new music, create playlist and organize them.
- Pandora is a music discovery service designed to help you enjoy music you already know, and to help you discover new music you’ll love. It is restricted to US only.
- UVLayer is a client with cool interface that lets you to find videos on YouTube-alikes websites and share them with your friends.
- DestroyFlickr allows you to browse all those picture on Flickr within your desktop. Mouse over the image and you get a larger view. Click on it and you get the actual image.
- Flick Flipper allows you to browse through those photos in Flickr.
- FotoBooth get your picture with your webcam instantly. You can put some filters and upload it to Flickr.
WEB TOOLS
- Google Analytics Reporting Suite brings your Google Analytics straight to your desktop. It’s still has some bug but it is a nice app you should try.
- Em Calculator do all the trouble creating CSS code so that you can scale up or down your typography and still don’t mess the spacing and layout.
- WebKut lets you to capture page of websites. It provide some simple web snapshot options: capturing entire page, current view, or only a selection.
- WebSnapShot is another way to capture thumbnails, full page , and the browser’s contents of live websites.
- Shrink O Matic ease your job on resizing images.
- Kuler Desktop imports colors to Adobe apps such as Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign.
- Color Browser organizes your favorite colour pallete.
- COLOURlovers Desktop Color finder is there for you when you need inspiration for colour schemes and pallete.
- Color Picker shows you the hexadecimal of your chosen color.
- Pixus measures object on your screen. It has browser skins so that you can view how the object looks like in web browser.
- Air Icon Generator generates a CS3 or Web 2.0 style badge for you.
ONLINE READER
- ReadAir is another Google related app. You can read your Google Reader feeds in an OSX themed desktop client.
- Apprise is a feed reader with Twitter and AIM integration. You can share your links or stories to Twitter or AIM.
- DiggRSS Reader is a more spesific RSS Reader. View Digg Top Stories on your desktop.
- Snackr is a RSS ticker that pulls random items from your feeds and scrolls them across your desktop.
SOCIAL SOFTWARE
- TWhirl allows you to update your twitter account. Not only Twitter, it can also connect to multiple Twitter, identi.ca, Friendfeed and seesmic accounts.
- TweetDeck saves your Twitter to your local database and breaking it down into more manageable bite sized pieces.
- TumbleWeed is like Thwirl. The difference is that TumbleWeed connects you to Tumblr.
- Pownce can send messages, links, files and events to your friend.
- UserPlane Desktop is another community application that enables you to send messages, IM, and friend requests.
NOTES & TASK MANAGEMENT
- Agile Agenda is a project scheduling application.
- Klok allows you to track time of your project.
- MiniTask is a dead simple to-do list software for those who are tired of complex task management apps. You may want to try Doomi that do the same thing as MiniTask.
- Snippely is a tool that can organize all your quick notes, memos or codes you frequently use in your hard disk in one location.
- Shifd from NY Times stores your memos, quick notes or links to your account. You can read it later and even update your content from your mobile phone or your computer.
OTHER
- EBay Desktop lets you search,browse, bid and watch items on EBay without browser. If you win the auction, you can pay for it using the app too. But if you have used Auction Sentry before, you may be dissapointed because the Ebay Desktop can’t “snipe”.
- XDrive Desktop Lite allows you to store your local files to XDrive online storage up to 5GB.
- NASDAQ gives you an insight of trading activity.
- StockQ streams stock to your desktop. You can adjust it’s refresh rate from 1 sec to 5 minutes. No brokerage account login/authentication.
- NetBook browses and retrieves books from the Project Gutenberg Library, an online book library.
- JoomEdit manage your Joomla content straight from your desktop.
